We've always known that J.K. Rowling is great at killing characters (RIP Lupin/Snape/Sirius/etc.), but now she's wielding her words against ludicrous movie rumors. After many rumors circulated late last year that another set of movies could emerge to follow the proper Harry Potter series, based on the new stage play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Rowling has now put those firmly to rest.
That's probably mixed news for long-time fans of the Harry Potter series. While it means we don't get to see Ron, Harry, and Hermione's future tales on screen, it almost means we don't get to see the Cursed Child, which hasn't exactly been received well by some fans. It also means Warner Bros. won't split the play into three separate movies, giving it The Hobbit treatment.
Still, that tweet is simply saying that there are no plans for that to happen today. Who knows what could happen once Warner Bros. finishes up the 5-movie series of prequels launched by last year's Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. And seriously, there are few things we can put past movie studios these days when it comes to crazy sequel plans.
