As summer draws near
I once again look at ways to reduce the amount of required house cooling with AC
by reducing the amount of house heating by appliances... such as game computer.
Given: CPU cores are running in the 30-40% zone while gaming,
Gpu 50-80% on 60vsync
Is there a way to reduce the cpu speed (and voltage??)
that would result in lower heat made but still get the same processing done?
If we run the chip at half clock, then it should jump from 40% load to 80%.
But would 80% of a chip at 2ghz be cooler than 40% of 4ghz? Modern chips & boards will throttle, so will a lower clock really matter?
Is the key the voltage, not the clock?
That we only need to drop the clock to stay stable at a lower voltage?
Any ideas on how to lower heat output of a <max game computer
without sacrificing game play?
